Jason Williams

Legal Advisor

Jason joined Local Government in 1989 with little idea of what he wanted to do for a career.

He was working alongside the in-house legal department, within administration, when he decided he wanted to work for Trading Standards but sadly there were no vacancies for trainees.

Jason started night school to take an 'A' level in Law and then paid to undertake the Diploma in Consumer Affairs (DCA), a Trading Standards qualification. This took 3 years to obtain after which an opportunity to join Trading Standards in Cambridgeshire had arisen.

Naturally, Jason took the position, starting his career as a consumer adviser and going on to manage his own team of advisers. During this time he qualified as a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives having specialised in subjects such as Law of Contract, Civil Litigation Practice and Law of Tort.

Jason also started to deliver training sessions for what was then Unision Education to those students preparing for the DCA examinations. Until recently he was the Lead distance learning tutor on Trading Standards subjects for the National Extension College (NEC) as well as a course author. He delivered training courses all across the UK for Trading Standards and CAB staff on subjects ranging from basic to advanced consumer law, consumer credit, contract law and Small Claims procedures.

Jason joined Lawgistics in March 2013 adding to the legal team's wealth of motor trade law knowledge and bringing his own experience to help deal with the consumer issues faced by the motor industry.
