Fake vehicle diagnostic equipment lands supplier in court

York Trading Standards have prosecuted a supplier of counterfeit vehicle diagnostic equipment and fake car key rings.

All 50* diagnostic scanners (worth £30,000) were stamped with illegally branded trademarks as were the 800* key rings (worth £5000).  The greater concern was that the performance of the products were of considerable inferior quality when compared to the genuine items.

The Director of the company was given an eight month prison sentence suspended for 18 months, has had to undertake 150 hours of unpaid community work to pay back the £35,000 he made through the sales, and to pay £5000 in prosecution costs as well as to pay £100 Victim Surcharge.
