Finance/Credit Advertising – a timely warning

We see a number of dealer advertisements including credit deals which have not yet picked up the 'need to declare' how independent the dealer is when offering credit from one or more credit suppliers. 

It is likely that most used car dealers will have a relationship with perhaps just one or two finance companies.  In such cases it is necessary to disclose such limitations in credit advertising.  If you literally only use one of Black Horse, Moto Novo, Barclays etc then you should be upfront in stating this in the advertisement. 

Other dealers who have a relationship with a wider group of finance companies can indicate so, but it should be made clear that they can make introductions to a limited number of finance suppliers and not give the impression they are truly independent.
